The 1992 FIRST Robotics Competition was the only official event of the 1992 FIRST Robotics Competition season. The event took place in the Manchester Memorial High School gym on February 13th and 14th, 1992. Then-President George Bush visited on Wednesday the 12th and endorsed the program and invited the winner to the White House.

Two playing fields were set up in the gym, with umbilical tethers suspended from the ceiling. Matches were timed on the gym scoreboard and a closed-circuit video feed showed matches on monitors around the room with superimposed timers and even on-robot video. Seeding rounds took place to determine a seeding order before the double elimination tournament and best two out of three rounds.
