A FIRST Robotics Competition scrimmage is typically a gathering of several teams during the build season and before official events begin where teams can test out their robots against other robots designed to play that year's game. Some scrimmages may have a more rigid match schedule, while others are more casual like demos and may involve long periods of simply testing out robot interactions and game piece manipulation. Some more organized scrimmages have evolved into "week zero" events, which operate somewhat similar to offseason events with a field management system and a seeding and playoff structure. Photographs or other materials that take place at a scrimmage should be tagged scrimmage.
