The 1998 New England Regional was one of two events that took place during week two of the 1998 FIRST Robotics Competition season. The regional took place at Southern New Hampshire University from March 12th to 14th, 1998. Like other events of the time, matches were played back and forth on an "A" field and a "B" field to decrease match turnaround. Live video feed of matches was shown on a large projection screen and Dean Kamen was in attendance.
