Circa 1993-1994[1] FIRST operated a dial-up bulletin board system for important messages and communication. With the corporate sponsors as well as school labs of the era, dialing-in would have been more accessible than for the general public.

By September 1995 FIRST had an World Wide Web connection and website with e-mail system in place. Team numbers were faxed as well as e-mailed out that year. The original URL was http://usfirst.mv.com[2] but by later 1996 it was changed to http://usfirst.org/
