Demo

A demo, for the purposes of the archive, is a typically (but not necessarily) public demonstration of a team or teams' robots to show off their accomplishments and get the community interested in FIRST. Demonstrations mainly differ from scrimmages and offseasons in that they do not always run complete or traditional matches or follow a structured match schedule like a regular event. Photographs or other materials that are related to a demonstration should be tagged demo.

1992

A few demonstrations were given by Dean Kamen to the press before the inaugural FIRST Robotics Competition.

1995

One early public demonstration with multiple teams and Dean Kamen himself in attendance was the 1995 Chicago Museum of Science and Industry demonstration.

1996

In October 1996 another demonstration was held in Chicago at DePaul University featuring teams 13, 81, and 111 in part to promote the new Motorola Midwest Regional beginning in 1997.

It is shown briefly in team 111's 1997 team video. Dean Kamen was in attendance as well as invited guests like Illinois Governor Jim Edgar. Two traditional matches were played as part of the demonstration, with the Honeywell/Freeport team winning both matches.
